Poetry: Birds

Birds
By Lily M. Ciaramitaro

a dream takes shape
a rush in my ears
i have no control
my eyes see birds mushrooms worms
scarlet garments and patchwork moments
are blazing slaves to solar seconds
i am an amateur
my mind is wicked and rather infinite
it plays tricks with my thoughts
instead of yes
no
instead of up
down
i clap my hands
and my feet leave the ground
even gravity is ruled by a mind
that makes me forget about words
and think of birds
